Real AI operating systems. Not training. Not chatbots.

We've built from zero to one. Now it's yours. Let's build it right.

Start Left Security, zero to market. SOPHIE, an idea to a company with a practicing dentist. We build the product, and the company around it: the brand, the way you sell, the way it runs. Fixed prices. A product in market in 60 days. Fractional leaders who hand off when your team is ready.

Redwood trunk in light, a product in market

What we build

Three things every product company needs. We build all three.

Not a course. Not a chatbot. A system that does the job every day, after we leave. Three ways in. Each one makes you money or gives you your time back. Sometimes both.

01 · Product

Turn the problem you know into a product people pay for.

From the idea to an AI-native v1 in production by day 60, with the brand and the site to launch it. The way we built SOPHIE and Start Left.

03 · Operations

CLIENT PARTNERS

Two companies. Built from zero, with this team.

We don't build companies for everyone. For the ones we do, we take a stake, build the whole company alongside the founder, and wire the revenue system in from day one. Here is what each one taught us.

Start Left Security, a product GroundedPath built from zero to market.Start Left Security, a product GroundedPath built from zero to market.

From zero to a product in market. Bootstrapped, then venture-backed, then acquired.

The same team you'd work with today built Start Left from the first line: website, app, API, and scanning tools as one product. Bootstrapped to first revenue, then venture-backed, then acquired. The whole lifecycle a founder goes through, including the parts nobody warns you about.

  • Problem — A security company with an idea, no product, and no team to build it.
  • What we did — All of it. Product, engineering, brand, website, the sales system, and the leadership to run it, as the only team on the job.
  • Result — Live in 2023. Sales up every year. Microsoft Pegasus. Acquired. 5.0 on Clutch.

What it taught us: build it to be sold, even if you never sell.

SOPHIE, the AI practice operating system GroundedPath built with a dentist.SOPHIE, the AI practice operating system GroundedPath built with a dentist.

From an idea to a company, with a practicing dentist.

A dentist with the problem and the patients, and no product team. GroundedPath built the product, the brand, the marketing, the revenue system, and the engineering around her, and holds a stake. Groundwork runs the company day to day: the product work and the customer lifecycle, from first contact to renewal.

  • Problem — A practicing dentist with a problem every practice has: the daily work slips through the cracks, and the owner is the one who catches it.
  • What we did — Built it with her from the first line: product, brand, marketing, the revenue system, and the engineering. AI-native from day one.
  • Result — In market and selling to practices.

What it taught us: the founder's job is customers. Ours is everything that lets her keep doing it.

WHAT "CLIENT PARTNER" MEANS

A product is not a company.
We build both.

A client partner gets the whole company, not a codebase: the product, the brand, the way it sells, and the way it runs, with fractional leaders in each working as one team, and a stake that keeps us at the table after launch. We take on a few a year. Every other founder gets the same team at a fixed price, one piece at a time, and keeps 100 percent.

Hard-won

What we learned the expensive way.

Two companies, the whole lifecycle: bootstrapped, venture-backed, acquired, and one still being built with a practicing dentist. Six rules we'd put in front of any founder on day one, and what each one saves you.

01

Build the one workflow someone pays for.

Where we learned it

At Start Left, the first revenue came from one workflow done completely, not from the roadmap.

What it saves you

Months of building what nobody asked for. The Build Plan names the one workflow, and v1 is that.

02

Price before you build.

Where we learned it

SOPHIE's pricing was on the page before the product was in production. It changed what we built.

What it saves you

A launch with no number on it, and the six months of “let's talk” that follow.

03

Security and the record from the first commit.

Where we learned it

Start Left sold to security buyers. Every enterprise deal and the acquirer asked the same questions. The answers were in the code.

What it saves you

The scramble the week before the enterprise pilot. Diligence as an excavation instead of a walk-through.

04

The founder's job is customers.

Where we learned it

The dentist kept seeing patients. We kept shipping. SOPHIE got built because she never had to become the product manager.

What it saves you

The founder as PM, salesperson, and ops lead, and the year it costs.

05

Follow-up is where the revenue is.

Where we learned it

Groundwork exists because we watched good leads die in an inbox. It now runs SOPHIE's whole go-to-market, ads to renewal, and ours.

What it saves you

The pipeline that only moves when the founder remembers.

06

Build it to be sold, even if you never sell.

Where we learned it

Start Left was sellable because it ran without us: documented, governed, measured. The same things made it fundable.

What it saves you

Key-person risk, and the discount buyers and investors apply for it.

Groundwork

The revenue system we wire in on day one.

Groundwork revenue system dashboard
Groundwork revenue system dashboard

It runs SOPHIE's entire go-to-market today. It will run yours.

Groundwork is the revenue operating system we built and run ourselves. Inside SOPHIE it runs the whole go-to-market: the ads and the Meta data behind them, the campaigns, prospecting and follow-up, the pipeline, and every customer after the sale, from the first anonymous visit to renewal. One record, one system, in place of the pile a startup usually buys (HubSpot, Apollo, Clay, Intercom, PartnerStack, the ad dashboards). Set it up once and it runs on its own inside the rules you set. It's the revenue team before you can afford one. For a client partner it's wired in from day one. For everyone else, it comes with Build and Grow.

—Marketing and prospecting: the trigger detected, the sequence fired, the ad spend measured to revenue

—Content and social: what you know, turned into distribution that's tied to revenue

—CRM and pipeline: one customer record from first signal to closed-won

—Customer success: churn risk spotted before the surprise, and acted on

—Product intelligence: product and usage signals routed into revenue action

—Partner hub: partner and referral activity tied to closed revenue

Comes with Build and Grow. Wired in from day one for client partners. On its own: $299, $699, or $1,499 a month.

How we work with founders

Two ways in. Pick the one that fits the company you want.

— Build. Fixed prices. Your code, your IP, your accounts from the first commit. You keep 100 percent.

— Client partner. We take a stake and build the whole company with you: product, brand, revenue system, fractional leaders. A few a year, by application.

— Either way. The same team that built Start Left and SOPHIE, and a hand-off when your team is ready.

Built for founders who already know the problem and the people who have it: domain experts productizing what they know, second-time founders, owner-operators launching a product, and the non-technical founder with capital and a validated idea. Two ways in: a fixed-price build you own outright, or, for a few a year, a client partnership.

Call us when

— Customers are asking for the product and nobody on your team can build it.

— A dev shop shipped what you asked for, and nobody's buying.

— You're the PM, the salesperson, and the ops lead, and the month is gone.

— An investor asked about security, and you didn't have an answer.

— You've raised, and you have twelve months to show traction.

Not a fit

Idea-stage with no customers and no capital. Anyone who wants a quote for a spec. Products that need a venture-scale ad budget to work. Client partnerships without a problem you've already lived and people already asking for the fix.

The path

A plan in two weeks. A product by day 60. Then the company.

One accountable path, at fixed prices. The founder call is free. The Build Plan tells you what to build first and what it costs. Build ships v1. Grow keeps it honest and builds the next piece. Client partners walk the same path; the stake and the company build come on top of it.

Straight answers

The questions founders ask on the first call. Answered the way we'd answer them at the table.

What does it cost?

The founder call is free. The Build Plan is $9,500 for two weeks. Build is from $35,000 over 60 days, priced in the plan and fixed before the work starts. Grow is $5,000 or $10,000 a month with a three-month minimum. The prices are published here and they don't change on the call.

Do you take equity?

Two ways in. Build is cash at fixed prices and you keep 100 percent. A client partnership is different: we take a stake and build the whole company with you, the product, the brand, the revenue system, fractional leaders. We take on a few a year, by application, and only where the founder has a problem they've lived and people already asking for the fix. The call tells you which door you're at.

How fast is it live?

The Build Plan takes two weeks. v1 is in production by day 60, or we keep building until it is. The brand and the site go live before the product, so there's somewhere to send people on day one.

What do you need from me?

The problem and the people who have it, three customers we can talk to in the first two weeks, about two hours a week during the Build Plan, and access to whatever you've built so far. After launch, your job is customers. Ours is everything that lets you keep doing it.

Who owns the code?

You do. Your code, your IP, your accounts, from the first commit. If we ever part ways, everything we built stays with you, documented. In a client partnership the company owns it, and you own the company with us.

Do you take over my company?

No. You stay the founder. We bring fractional leaders in product, marketing, and revenue for as long as you need them, and we hand off to your team when it's ready. The hand-off is in the plan from the start, not a negotiation at the end.

I already have a developer or a dev team.

Good. We're not here to replace them. The Build Plan tells all of us what to build first and what not to build. We take the pieces your team doesn't have, usually the company around the product: brand, pricing, the revenue system, the record, security. Your team keeps shipping.

Can you help me raise?

We're not a broker and we don't introduce investors. What we do is make the company raise-ready: the numbers investors ask for, every month, in one place; security and the record that survive diligence; a product that runs without you. Founders raise on that. We've done it ourselves.

What about AI?

It's in everything we build, where it earns its place, not as a feature. AI-native means the product and the company are designed around what a system can do now: answer, follow up, check, record. A person approves what matters. The record shows what the AI did. That's the part investors and enterprise customers ask about, and it's built in.

Do I still need HubSpot, Apollo, or an agency?

No. Groundwork is the stack. It runs SOPHIE's entire go-to-market today: the ads and the Meta data behind them, the campaigns, prospecting, the pipeline, and every customer after the sale. One record from the first anonymous visit to renewal. We wire it in during the Build, and once it's set up it runs on its own inside the rules you set. If you already pay for HubSpot or an agency funnel, we move what works and retire the rest.

Where do you work?

We're based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and we build with founders anywhere in the US. The Build Plan runs on video with one working session in person when you're within a day's drive. Client partners get us in the room more often; that's part of the deal.
